*TRIGGER WARNING*
Buckle your seatbelt, it’s about to get real. So far I have shared mostly generalizations about the epidemic of Sex Trafficking in the United States. Today I will begin sharing a series of articles that I have saved in order to fuel my research into the next book I am writing. It goes without saying that, if you have ever been victimized sexually, these could be huge triggers.
I won’t have much to say in my own words over the next couple of weeks. I am aware that this isn’t exactly the Lenten fast most people seek, and that you just might click the red X and move on. But I also believe fasting is a means to draw near to the heart of God, and I can think of few things that would be closer to His heart than equipping the Bride of Christ to get off the sofa and step into the lives of His precious ones who suffer beyond anything most of us could imagine.
May the Lord bring this to the forefront of our minds today. I pray the Holy Spirit will make us so uncomfortable that we can no longer look away.
And may He use US, His Church, to step into the stories of survivors, bringing hope and healing to their wounded bodies, minds, hearts and spirits.
It’s time to labor in prayer. It’s time to get serious.
