The third thing that I learned was that you, my Lord, never regarded me as I actually was, lame and weak and crooked and cowardly. You saw me as I would be when you had done what you promised and had brought me to the High Places, when it could be truly said, ‘There is none that walks with such a queenly ease, nor with such grace, as she.’
Oh, what beautiful words from one of my favorite books, Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard. The main character, Much Afraid, has been transformed. She has been given her new name: Grace and Glory. She has her long-promised hind’s feet and now scales the High Places, led by the King, with ease. She looks back on her struggle, on the impossible journey she has just completed, and now sees clearly.
That is why I am here. I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend who found myself limping through life, struggling to find joy, head down in frustration and brow furrowed by worry. But the Lord met me right there and, day by day, He is showing me how to live. It is one baby step at a time, one tiny and good habit formed in place of the destructive ones I had allowed to sneak in. It is learning to be quiet, sitting with Jesus early in the morning and allowing Him to slow me down and learn to meditate on the words of life He has given me in the Scriptures.
For you see, that struggling woman is not who I am or was ever meant to be! I am a daughter of the King. He has promised to give me hind’s feet and assured me that He will set me in the High Places (Habakkuk 3:19). He does not see me as I am, but as I will be.
So how, then, should I live?
Well, that is a big question with a simple, yet difficult answer. I want to explore it here, with you. I want to look around and shine a light in the darkness, grasping beauty and bringing it into the light. I want to revel in the blessings of the every day, family, friends, good books, beautiful music, and nature. Every gift is a prodding forward by our gracious Father, pushing us closer to the heart of Christ and pointing us ever upward towards eternity.
This is not an easy task. So much competes for our attention and time, crowding out opportunities to look up, look around, and really listen to the Holy Spirit. But it is a worthy task and one that I feel is of utmost importance in this day and age.
I hope you will join me. I am excited about what the Lord is going to do!
Welcome!
